Reviews about Beachside Veterinary Surgery

  • Excellent vet - takes a look at the entire situation before making a diagnosis. Has more equipment on site than most vets so he can do tests and provide results without sending samples away.

I would just like to say that the staff here are incompetent, incapable and appear to need further training and education. Here is why. My cat was brought here after showing symptoms of having been bitten by something venomous (lack of limb movement, lethargic and non responsive). The staff were displayed no urgency to treat her. When my cat was attended to Dr Dan did not listen to what my father had to say, my father had suspected she had been bitten by a snake due to our surrounding environments- living near a national park , Dan thought otherwise and treated her for a tick, she clearly had no tick on her so to me that was very questionable. He did not do any tests to find out any further information and I feel this was very neglectful of him. He had mentioned that he had an event he was attending later that day multiple times and appeared to be distracted by this. He kept her at the vet for a short period of time then we received a call saying my cat was ok to go home. This was questionable as, tick or no tick she was still displaying symptoms of discomfort and should have been kept to be monitored. Upon picking her up Dan said he was unsure of the cause of the illness but assured us she was ok to leave. I feel this was very unprofessional of him. If this was a human being being taken to a doctor or hospital they would not send someone home undiagnosed. I don't see why my cat was treated any differently. He clearly did not want to be help us as he had this event on later and that was clearly more important than the health of my pet. Upon returning home she still did not seem healthy and was behaving abnormally. We called the Dan and explained that she had not gotten better. He explained that it may be a side effect of the antibiotic he gave her. Within an hour her health had rapidly decreased and we made the choice to take her to an emergency vet. The vet we took her to acted immediately, with urgency and showed compassion towards the situation. She was immediately tested and treated for a snake bite and it was confirmed the venom of a tiger snake was in her. Unfortunately within a few hours my poor cat passed away as she did not receive the anti venom urgently enough. They explained that if she had been treated for a snake bite earlier she would have had a much higher chance of surviving. Dr Dan has let down my family and we are all very upset for our loss. She was a part of the family but is no longer due to his misdiagnosed and unprofessional work behaviour. It was evident all he wanted to do was leave and go to his event and he did not appear to show any sympathy towards the situation. As a result we will not get to spent another day with our girl and I am astounded that someone so incompetent can call himself a professional vet.
